Owl and the Pussycat Hotel is Sri Lanka’s newest boutique hotel. The hotel is perfect for those looking for a relaxing, fun and unpretentious place with a sense of romance. Being on the beautiful seaside makes it a tranquil yet social and lively place for a luxurious retreat. Panoramic views of the Indian Ocean make the perfect backdrop. Guests can enjoy breathtaking sunsets as well as dance under the stars and coconut trees on the outdoor terrace and pool bar.
The 16 rooms and suites are spacious and individually designed. Some offer a terrace and some have an open kitchen area. Hotel owners Reita Gadkari and Shane Thantirimudalige brought inspiration from their travels around the world to the interior design of Owl and the Pussycat Hotel. The furniture, colourful textiles, and art pieces combine the work of 20 international artists as well as local craftsmen. As a result, the hotel displays a range of different cultural influences in a palette of deep pastel hues in a vibrant bohemian style. The hotel also takes part in a philanthropy program. Some pieces on display (handmade owl and pussycat dolls) are sold in the gift shop, with proceeds all going to a local orphanage.
The Runcible Spoon restaurant serves traditional Sri Lankan and Mediterranean cuisine with exciting flavours for every palate. Guests can also book some fun activities including whale watching (blue whales, sperm whales and even dolphins), swimming with turtles, learning to fish with the local stilt fishermen, sailing, cycling, diving, surfing and more!
